Frequently asked
Why is long-term care deducted separately?
Under the Long-Term Care Insurance Act it is collected with health insurance by multiplying the health premium by the 13.14% long-term care rate. It is bundled with health insurance but appears as its own line.
How much does the employer pay?
The same amount as the employee for pension, health and long-term care; for employment insurance, the unemployment share plus the employment stability and vocational training share; and all of the industrial accident premium. On ₩3M the employer's share is more than ₩291,522.
What if pay exceeds ₩6.59M?
The national pension rate applies only up to the standard monthly income ceiling of ₩6.59M. Health insurance has a far higher ceiling, so it scales with most salaries.
What happens in 2027?
The national pension goes to 10%, the employee share to 5%, and on ₩3M the first line becomes ₩150,000, up ₩7,500.
